How to measure WordPress disk space

WordPress storage does not grow only because of images. Backups, caches, logs, thumbnails, plugins, and temporary files can fill hosting without a clear warning in the dashboard.

What to measure

Review total installation size, file count, and change between readings. A single value shows current usage; the trend reveals whether a problem is developing.

What usually consumes space

Check wp-content/uploads, local backups, caches, debug logs, and old packages. Do not remove files without a backup and confirmation that the site no longer uses them.

How to prevent the limit

Set a warning threshold, repeat measurements regularly, and review the fastest-growing sites. Host Gauge provides a local reading; Quota Control Hub brings multiple sites into one view.
